Good stories are well-researched. Great stories are lived.
Whether we’re cruising along the Mekong River or hunting for frogs in a remote swamp, I’m always learning alongside my sources, camera in hand. To me, immersive storytelling is personal and curious. My photo, video and writing come to life as I build relationships on adventures, engaging an audience through multimedia by experiencing the story firsthand.
As a social media coordinator, I also get to follow a story's journey from conception to public impact. When I share the work of my colleagues, I watch ideas travel beyond the field and spark conversations among students, alumni, researchers, and the public. It's fulfilling to amplify my team's stories that deserve to be seen.

About
My name is Katherine Jacobson
I’m a multimedia storyteller and digital media specialist at Purdue Agricultural Communications. I'm proud to contribute to Purdue's marketing and communications network, one of four brands globally to be recognized on Fast Company’s Brands That Matter list for a fourth consecutive year.
Through photography, video, writing, and social media, I move conversations beyond institutional and academic spaces to public audiences. I translate complex ideas into immersive stories with real-world impact among students, alumni, researchers and the broader community.

Achieving impact begins with a data-driven strategy. I plan and execute organic and paid social media campaigns, track performance and analyze metrics to optimize reach, engagement and audience growth. By combining analytics with creativity, I connect content to the right audience.

When I’m not storytelling for work, chances are I’m collecting stories of my own, exploring new corners of the world. Besides traveling, I enjoy waitressing, rock climbing, creative writing and spending time with friends and family.
